Dear Minnesotans, Did you know that there are two types of dog abuse? There’s intentional and unintentional dog abuse. Intentional abuse is where you are abusing your dog knowingly. Where unintentional abuse is where you could be abusing your dog without knowing it. In this letter I will tell you more about these two types of abuse. We all have a good idea of what intentional abuse is. Intentional abuse is hitting, beating, kicking, putting the collar on too tight, and etc. The most common way to unintentionally abuse a dog is by under feeding and or over feeding your dog. Another way to unintentionally abuse a dog is to accidentally leave your dog in the car for long periods of time during freezing and humid weather without the car on. Leaving your dog at home with no food or water accessible is also unintentionally abuse. Not taking your dog into the vet when recommended is unintentional abuse. Some people might not call these things abuse but the reality is, if you do any of these things your dog’s health could suffer. Before you get a dog, you need to understand how to care for a dog. Things to learn about a dog could be talking to a veterinarian, talking to a dog trainer, creating a budget for your dog's expenses, talking with people who own dogs and learning to clean up after your dog. If more people were required to learn about their dog, intentional and unintentional abuse could be avoided. If you already have a dog, you can also do these things to make sure you are best caring for your dog. Sincerely,Ryley,GaoZhong,Tyrese,Jun, and Ava
